Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Records Officer to manage, maintain, and secure patient medical records and healthcare documentation. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate recordkeeping, confidentiality, and compliance with hospital policies and healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain and organize patient medical records and files
* Ensure accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of medical information
* Update patient records in electronic medical record (EMR) systems
* Retrieve and provide medical records when requested by authorized personnel
* Monitor record storage, filing, and archiving processes
* Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and data privacy standards
* Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and administrative staff regarding documentation
* Prepare reports and maintain medical record statistics
* Handle record transfers, discharge summaries, and insurance documentation
* Assist during audits and accreditation processes
Required Qualifications
* Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Medical Administration, Healthcare Management, or related field
* Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation
* Familiarity with EMR/HIS systems and MS Office applications
* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
* Good communication and interpersonal abilities
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and data security
Preferred Skills
* Record management and documentation skills
* Data entry accuracy
* Time management and multitasking
* Problem-solving abilities
* Understanding of healthcare compliance standards
Experience
* 1–3 years of experience in medical records or healthcare administration preferred
